Shipwrecks is a must-visit surf spot in Los Cabos, and is located off the beaten path, so it’s best accessed by a 4-wheel drive vehicle. It’s one of the more famous breaks in the area, and the best part is that it’s usually uncrowded. The drive into this area is absolutely stunning, and the coastal scenery is breathtaking. Though the area is not well marked, a keen eye out for a small development named Rancho Rocas del Mar can help guide you in the right direction. The first break is just south of the development.

Shipwrecks is most productive during a strong southerly swell, and it is one of the few places in the area that offer world-class waves without the crowds. The waves here can range from 3-12 feet, and on a good day, you can catch some amazing barrel rides. The break is suitable for both intermediate and advanced surfers, and the reef is relatively shallow, so it’s important to be careful while surfing here.

Further north from Shipwrecks, you can find other popular surf spots such as Nine Palms, Punta Perfecta, and Los Frailes. Nine Palms is a beach break that offers both left and right-handers, and is suitable for all levels of surfers. Punta Perfecta, on the other hand, is a point break that can offer some powerful and challenging waves, and is recommended for advanced surfers only. Los Frailes is another beach break that’s great for beginners, and is known for its consistent and gentle waves.

If you’re looking for an adventure, and want to get away from the crowds, then Shipwrecks and the surrounding surf spots are definitely worth the effort to get to. The natural beauty of the area, coupled with the amazing waves, make this a must-visit destination for any surf enthusiast.
